Are you a fan of mermaid stories? I loved the Little Mermaid growing up and tales about people living under the sea always seemed so fascinating.
A couple of new mermaid and mermaid type Young Adult books released this week.
My friend Derek Murphy just the 1st half of his book “Shearwater” (which has a beautiful cover, btw) and I am reading it for a second time before I post the review. But it’s a fun mermaid meets Twilight type of story that I’m sure you will love. Right now it’s got almost 5 stars.
Then she meets the charming Sebastian, who won’t leave her alone, and the brooding Ethan, who can’t stand to be around her. When a shocking revelation destroys everything she thought she knew, she’s forced to choose… whether to cling to the last of her humanity, or venture into the deep abyss in search of her true identity.

I also received my copy of The Siren by Kiera Cass which I’m going to be giving away with a pretty starfish necklace in February.
Kahlen is a Siren, bound to serve the Ocean by luring humans to watery graves with her voice, which is deadly to any human who hears it. Akinli is human—a kind, handsome boy who’s everything Kahlen ever dreamed of. Falling in love puts them both in danger . . . but Kahlen can’t bear to stay away. Will she risk everything to follow her heart?
Sounds great, right?
And here are a few other fun “under the sea” books you might want to snag:
- Of Poseidon (The Syrena Legacy, #1)
- Forgive My Fins (Fins, #1)
- Everblue (Mer Tales, #1)
- Wake (Watersong #1)
- Hannah (Daughters of the Sea, #1)

The Madly series by M. Leighton is another good YA mermaid series. It’s incomplete, and I’m not sure if it will be finished based on new projects the author has taken on, but I really enjoyed it.
