Are you a YA book reader and a cat lover like I am? My cat Shadow and I often curl up with a good book.
Below I put together a list of seven YA books that feature or star cats in their stories. But I know there has to be more out there!

- The Hunger Games Series– Buttercup the cat is not a huge player in The Hunger Games series, but he does end up as a metaphor with a happy ending (kind of) and a lap to probably cuddle on sometimes.
- The Last Battle– More of a middle grade series but one of the character’s is name Ginger, a talking cat from Narnia.
- The Book of Night with Moon– a fantasy and magic book all about a cat named Rhiow. Follow up with To Visit the Queen.
- Darkness Rising: Book One of The Catmage Chronicle– Anther fantasy series with a talking cat. Follow up with, Darkness Ascendant.
- Turning Book 1: What Curiosity Kills– A supernatural YA book, about a 16 year girl who’s a cat shapeshifter.
- A Beautiful Friendship– This sifi YA book features a young protagonist who forms a bond with a Treecat (creatures that resemble a cross between a bobcat and a lemur. Follow up with Fire Season and Treecat Wars.
- Cat Girl’s Day Off– A humorous book with a Main Character which can talk to cats.

It’s Like This, Cat is a novel written by Emily Cheney Neville that won the Newbery Medal for excellence in American children’s literature in 1964.
