Read the Divergent series? How did you feel about it? Did you love Allegiant or hate it? Leave a note in the comments.
As a series, I loved it. It was amazing. But the last book… not so much.
*** if you have not read Allegiant and do not like spoilers… stop reading here ***
I personally adored the Tris/Four romance and the last book just spoiled it for me. Four turned whiny and the potential love triangles feel forced. The dual point of views were confusing (as SO many others complained you couldn’t tell the difference between Tris and Four… which is weird, since Four is a dude), and I am solidly in the hating Tris’s death camp.
The death didn’t work for me and it came up so empty in the end. Veronica Roth stated it was Tris’s character arch.. but I disagree. There were so many characters that a death in the end could have brought the redemption Tris didn’t really need. (eh..hem Peter and Caleb, I’m looking at you.)
I have seen both of the Divergent series movies so far and enjoyed them but am a bit torn about #4.. I really don’t want to see Tris die again.
Ah.. well. I would still recommend the series and at to at least read Allegiant once.
BUT
I would also recommend checking out this fan fiction. It’s an entire rework of Allegiant called Determinate. At 165, 000 words it is more that a full novel.
In general, lots of fan fics are fun, but not that great. This one is quite good. It’s a bit long and could stand for a trim, but I still found the ending SO much more satisfying.
Read Determinate for FREE!
If you have read it or plan to let me know what you thought in the comments. Which ending did you like better, the canon or fan fic?

Totally agree! I hated how allegiant ended with Tris becoming the sacrifice. Not cool, she was the whole reason things were changing and had already dealt with enough tragedy/death. And now I’m done ranting. 🙂

If she had to die… I think it could have been done with more meaning. Seriously.. she survived the death serum, you’d think she could survive a bullet 😉

I love and hate it. I hate that she had to die, but she did have to die. It fits her character so well, and so many books and series are happily ever after, so it was sort of refreshing to have one series end realistically. So, I wish she didn’t have to die, but I’m also glad that she did. To me, the fact that she sacrificed her life to save the ones she loved makes Tris, Tris.

Yep.. I know there are some people who feel that way 🙂

I haven’t read the books yet. I bought them all and then we moved – I think they are in the storage room in the garage and refuse to buy them again 🙂 I will get them out of that room eventually!!!!!
