As well as my newest adventure in to YA writing I have been a niche blogger for 8 years. When you do that you tend to become friends online with other bloggers who share your niche.
One of my friends experienced (and is still experiencing) a horrible tragedy a four month ago. Her 15 year old daughter, Emma, was killed in an accident.
When I heard the news I was devastated for her. My first thought was: “this is not real”.
Emma was and is a beautiful person. She is brave, generous, fearless, amazing, kind… and on and on.
And she loves to read. These are some of her favorites: (the below are affiliate links which go to support Emma’s family)
- Harry Potter series
- Lord Of The Rings series
- Unbroken
- The Hobbit
- My Side of The Mountain
- A Wrinkle In Time
- Lois Lowry ( The Giver Quartet)
- The Boy Who Dared
- Ronald Dahl Books
- Sally Gardner Books
- Leven Thumps Books
- Obert Skye – Pillagy
- Anthony Horowitz – Alex Rider Books
- James Patterson Books
- Percy Jackson Books
From what I have heard she is a voracious reader, always with a book in her hand.
Emma’s family has started a memorial project with a Little Free Library in her name. If you would like to donate books, please send them to this address:

They also started a website for Emma to encourage people to be kind. You can can download her kindness cards here and learn all about her.
So over the last few months as I’ve seen my friend’s updates on Facebook I often wonder what could do for her, for Emma.
This is a person who’s lovely spirit deserves to to be shared, modeled.
Of course as humans we can’t fix others pain and suffering most of the time. We can only be there. Only sit with them.
I did think Emma might enjoy sharing and encouraging others to be all they were made for and so I designed these simple bookmarks with her in mind.
